I recently bought a used 97 Expedition and it didn't have a hitch on it. I needed to tow more than 4000lbs (max limit on bumper hitch) so I researched around and found this nice hitch.

This hitch is rated for 6000lbs WC and 10,000 WD but my owners manual says I can only tow up to 5000 lbs weight carrying and up to about 8000 with weight distributing. To be on the safe side, you shouldn't exceed those even if the hitch can handle more.

The heaviest thing I ever towed was a car on a dual axle trailer (5100lbs) and I didn't have any problems, drove very smoothly minus the lack of acceleration.

This bolts up pretty simply, 4 heavy duty bolts, washers, and nuts on each side and its in. It even has a plate welded on so you can install an easy to access trailer connector.

As for looks, OEM expeditions hitches have the square frame clearly visible going across the back. This hitch is a little more tucked in, half hidden behind the rear bumper with the receiver hole exposed and protruding.

If you're buying this hitch and intend on towing a lot of weight, be sure you have a transmission cooler. Most Expeditions without a factory hitch will not have a transmission cooler. You will need to pull off the transmission line off the radiator and install fittings in order to install a cooler.

After about one salted winters worth of driving around, most of the hitch paint is still intact. Some spots are starting to rust but I didn't expect it to be perfect forever.

StowAway2 Max Swingaway Carrier Review

(More customer reviews)I just finished a 2400 mile round trip with my Stowaway2 Max and it worked beautifully. This replaced a soft-sided rooftop cargo carrier for our family mini-van and I am very pleased.

Pros:
1) The swinging action is smooth and easy with a pin that allows the unit to be locked on the "open" position.
2) Large capacity. I was surprised that it held so much. It easily doubled my carrying capacity.
3) Love the cargo rack and bike rack versatility.
4) Working taillights and blinkers.
5) Fits standard hitches and I can swap between my van and truck easily
6) Build quality is quite good. The swing arm is steel, the carrier is heavy duty plastic. Barring an accident or misuse I can't see this thing wearing out in my lifetime.
7) Made in the USA
8) The Locking hitch pin is a nice addition

Cons (really minor stuff, but enough to give it 4 versus 5 stars):
1) Could use a tad more clearance for my van's rear door/ As it is the unit has to be "just so" and scrapes the carrier when opening/closing. Nothing dramatic or damaging, just a nuisance.
2) Not completely waterproof. That said I was in some VERY heavy rain down south and the amount of water in the unit was negligible. A nuisance really, just wouldn't store electronics back there.
3) Its heavy (not really a bad thing) but it will take 2 people to load and unload (I'm 6'2" and 250lbs and it is simply awkward). It is worth the extra $30 for the little wheels you can add to the bottom to roll the unit around.
4) NOt visible from drivers position (at least in my van) making parking a bit tough. I am thinking of trying an add some flags to mine.
5) Its expensive. After shipping and everything its close to $1000 plus the cost of a hitch. That is a fair chunk of change for added storage space.

(More customer reviews)They don't tell you that you only get 1ea guide thats 5ft long & 6 inches wide!!! Anyone ordering these, know you need one for each ski on snowmobile. You think your getting a pair. What good is 1 guide 5ft long.....I still need one now for other runner on sled, and most sled & trailers are 10ft. So I actualy need three more at $12.95 each. Not "HAPPY"!!!!!!!!!!!!!Quality of the 1 guide is good. So be aware before ordering, its not a set, or enough for one snowmobile.

HOPPY 47284 Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this brake controller for $30 on Amazon NIB. Saw it at walmart that evening for $65 so I got a very great deal. I also purchased the quick connect harness for my truck and had this thing installed in literally less than 10 minutes. Since it's setup for 3 braking axles it is highly effective with single or double braking axles as well. I pulled a 16' car hauler 1300 miles one weekend and 1/2 of that distance was loaded with an 82 volkswagon pickup truck, diesel engine and multiple parts from a vw rabbit. The terrain varried from rolling hills to flats and then some pretty large hills. The controller worked as expected with no trouble. It was extremely easy to setup and use. The digital display makes setting the brakes the easiest ever. I have had multiple controllers that had the little dial that you turn and they can be troublesome when trying to get them set. Now all I have to do is hit the up or down arrow and it's set to the braking power I need.
